Today saw Jones Nicholson staff participate in the 2017 Salvation Army Aged Care Plus annual walkathon.
Last year, The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus raised $100,000 for the Freedom Partnership as part of the annual Walkathon. The Freedom Partnership aims to mobilise community, business and government to realise their contributions to modern slavery and take action to eradicate it. It also stands to support people in crisis through the Australian Freedom Fund. The fund makes resources such as shelter, transport, food, legal and emergency medical care available to people in crisis, ensuring that they receive the right assistance at the right time.
It is estimated that 45.8 million people are currently enslaved globally, with an estimated 4,300 people falling victim to this trade here in Australia. The Freedom Partnership sets out to create a voice for those marginalised by slavery, by educating Australians on this issue, and working alongside projects through prevention, rescue and restoration.
Jones Nicholson is committed to its corporate social responsibility and the part that it can play in not only shaping the local community but also the world.
